This programme helps learners to explore the foundational principles and mechanisms of infectious disease transmission through engaging real world case studies and data. Participants will gain practical skills in outbreak and apply infection control strategies. Additionally, learners will collaboratively evaluate public health policies and best practices, critically assess surveillance systems, and design context appropriate interventions that prevent the spread of disease while fostering evidence based decision making. This interactive, interdisciplinary programme equips participants with a deep understanding of infection control, epidemiology, and quality improvement empowering them to lead effective prevention and outbreak response efforts.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will have gained the knowledge necessary to:
Assessment of the course is determined by course work which accounts for 40% of the overall grade. As well as the final written examination which accounts for 60%.
This course will involve a mix of lectures, discussions and presentations. To benefit fully, a student’s participation in all aspects of the course is required.

Applicants must have at least three (3) CSEC passes, including English Language, or equivalent qualifications. Mature applicants without formal qualifications may be considered based on relevant work experience.
