Course Outline
In order to meet the standards for this qualification, individuals will need to demonstrate the ability to:
- Maintain a safe, clean and efficient work environment.
- Perform temporary hair colour services.
- Prepare clients for salon service.
- Sell products and services.
- Conduct financial transactions.
- Remove chemicals from hair.
- Consult with clients and diagnose hair and scalp conditions.
- Perform face shaves.
- Select and maintain tools and equipment.
- Treating grown hair, hair and scalp conditions.
- Perform semi-permanent hair colour services.
- Perform permanent wave and chemical straightening services.
- Perform hair shaping on naturally straight or curly hair.
- Provide beard and moustache design services .
Examination
Assessment of the course is determined by course work which accounts for 40% of the overall grade. As well as the final written examination which accounts for 60%.
Instructional Approach
This course will involve a mix of lectures, discussions and presentations. To benefit fully, a student’s participation in all aspects of the course is required.
